Crush Pad red is a well structured and unctuous assemblage of old world varietals, blended to be imminently drinkable and offer exceptional value. In 2002 we hit "paydirt" with some outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Bliss Vineyards Ranch and Feliz Ranch in Hopland, Mendocino.

The Bliss vineyard has produced excellent Cabernet for over 60 years. Both of these vineyards are adjacent to the Russian River and enjoy hot days and cool nights; an essential for excellent wine production. The final addition of a small amount of Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley completes this perfect blend.

The vineyards are harvested at just over 2 tons to the acre. This is very low by California standards, and makes the vines produce exceptionally concentrated grape bunches. These grapes are sold to major wineries such as Hess Select, Benziger, Clos du Bois, and Dynamite.
